You're not ambitious - you're just busy
Most top performers never slow down long enough to realize:
They’re not actually ambitious anymore.
They’re just busy.
They mistake activity for progress.
- More meetings
- More tasks
- More obligations
It all looks like momentum.
But it’s just movement.
Top Leaders don’t win because they do more.
They win because they do less—but better.
The Shift
The real difference between ambition and busyness?
Busyness is doing more.
Ambition is seeing what matters and going for it.
But you can’t see clearly when you’re buried in work.
📉 If your calendar is packed, but your vision is unclear—you’re just busy.
📉 If you're making decisions, but none feel like they change the game—you’re just busy.
📉 If you're leading, but not evolving—you’re just busy.
Most people spend years in this trap.
High-level execution, low-level impact.
As Greg McKeown says in Essentialism:
“If you don’t prioritize your life, someone else will.”
-> Read the book here
The goal isn’t to do more.
It’s to step back, see the game, and play it better.
The Playbook
Here's how to shift from busy to ambitious.
If you want to stop running in place, you need to audit how you spend your time.
1. Run the $10K Test
Look at your last week.
Write down the top 5 things that took up most of your time.
Now, ask:
âś” Would a CEO of a $10M company be doing this?
âś” Would an investor with full financial freedom be spending time on this?
If the answer is no, it’s not a high-value task.
Your time should match the level you’re trying to play at.
2. Schedule thinking time like a meeting
Top leaders don’t just work. They step back to think.
Block 90 minutes per week to answer these:
- What’s the one move that would change the game for me right now?
- What’s consuming my time that I need to eliminate?
- If I had to make 10x more money in half the time, what would I change?
Your best decisions don’t come from grinding.
They come from stepping back.
3. Eliminate or delegate one task this week
If your day is filled with execution, you’re stuck in maintenance mode.
That’s not where real power is built.
This week, pick one thing to:
✔ Eliminate (because it doesn’t actually drive real impact)
âś” Delegate (because someone else should be handling it)
The highest earners don’t do everything.
They focus on what only they do best.
The Cost of Staying Stuck
Most people don’t get stuck because they lack talent.
They get stuck because they’re too busy to evolve.
đź“Ś Stuck in execution mode instead of growth mode.
đź“Ś Stuck in busyness instead of impact.
đź“Ś Stuck in a cycle of working harder instead of thinking better.
This week, take 10 minutes:
👉 What’s one thing you’re doing that’s keeping you in maintenance mode?
Decide.
Remove it.
Replace it with something that moves you forward.
Because if you don’t, you’ll wake up 5 years from now, still running the same play.
See you next week!
